Nudging Shapes

To help with shape positioning, you are able to nudge the shape in small increments.

Click on the shape.

Under the Home page, click the Nudge item to display the drop down list.

Customizing Connections

By default, the connection will be a straight line.

You can change the straight line by adding additional points along the connection.

Holding down the Cntrl key and clicking on the connection will add an additional point to your connection.

Connection Types

To change the connection style, click the icon that is displayed when the shape is selected.

Click the Style tab a the top.

Click the Type button.

You can change the connection from a straight line to a spline or bezier.

Select the type and click the close button or X button at the top right corner.

Connecting Shapes

To create a connection between shapes, click the Connector item under the Insert page.

Click on the first shape to start the connection.

While holding the mouse button down, drag the connection to the second shape.

Click the Selection item once finished.

Quick Connections

You can also begin a connection by putting the mouse over one of the circles shown on the shape.

Click down on the circle and drag to the second object.

Drawing Pencil

To create a more freehand shape, click the Pencil item under the Insert page.

While keeping the mouse button down, draw your shape.

Once finished, click the Selection button to stop the Pencil editing mode.

To draw a custom shape, click the Path item under the Insert page.

Clicking on multiple points within the Diagram will connect automatically to create your shape.

Once finished, click the Selection button to stop Path editing.

Adding Text

To add rich text to your diagram, click the Rich Text Block item under the Insert page.

While holding your mouse button down, drag the mouse to select the area you want to display the Text Block.

Add and edit your text within the word processor.

Click Ok to save.

Edit Existing Text

Select the Text Block and click the Edit button to the top right.

Adding Images

To add an image, click the Image button under the Insert page.

Hold the mouse button down and drag a selection area you want the Image to be displayed.

Navigate to the image on your computer.

Select the Image and click the Open buton.

The image will be shown in the selection area.

Adding Shapes

To add a Shape from the Shape Gallery, select the Gallery.

Click on the Shape you want to add.

Drag the Shape onto the Diagram.

The Shape will be added when the mouse button as been released.

Grid Customizations

To turn on or off the Diagram Grid, click the Grid Slider.

If the Grid is enabled, you can change the color of the grid lines by clicking the Grid Line Color item.

Select the color to change the grid line color.

To change the width of the grid lines, enter in the amount into the Cell Width or click the Up or Down arrows to adjust the current spread.

To change the height of the grid lines, enter in the amount into the Cell Height or click the Up or Down arrows to adjust the current spread.

For easier shape placement, you can select the Snap To Grid in order for your shapes to snap into place along the Diagram grid.

Turning on the Snap To Items allows you to control shape placement based on other shapes already within the Diagram.

A dotted red line shows when one shape is aligned to another when Snap To Items is turned on.

Page Rulers

To turn on/off the Vertical rulers, click the Vertical Ruler slider.
